Mary Sette

WRITER/DIRECTOR/ILLUSTRATOR

Mary Sette is a writer/director, and illustrator working in Los Angeles. She makes darkly comedic genre stories about the queer proletariat hungry for blood, money, and anti-depressants. 

She is currently writing and illustrating her first graphic novel, HORRIBLE CORPSES. Her animated short film, HOT TODDY, a teeny-bopper murder mystery starring Anna Seregina, Atsuko Okatsuka, and Katrina Davis, was named Programmer’s Pick at the 2023 SeriesFest.

Some of the companies she’s worked for include Disney Channel, Digomind Productions, Dancing Atoms Studio, Unreal Engine, Comedy Bang! Bang!, and Partizan Entertainment. 

She’s attended Emily Flake’s St. Nell's Humor Residency and CalArts Animation Residency. Her illustrations have been featured by SlackJaw Humor, Toronto Comic Arts Festival, Silent Auctions Magazine, Malt Adult, and Whohaha; graphic design clients include The Bellhouse, Non-Plus Ultra, Panoramic Melody, and many more.

Mary received her Master's in Fine Arts from USC's John Wells Division of Writing for Screen and Television and her Bachelor's Degree from George Washington University, where she double majored in English and Creative Writing.

She is originally from a small farm town in New Jersey known for its meatballs and regret.
